Yay, finally an outfit post! I know it's been a long while. I've been quite uninteresting/lazy lately. I've also been having a hard time working with the dwindling morning light so I'm starting to experiment with my SLR camera and still getting used to that. So be patient!
Here is another inspiration piece. I am imagining my AA raglan top with any number of ruffled numbers and boots. And I'm sorry for the lack of outfit posts lately. It seems the days are already getting shorter because I usually try to take photos before work, around 8am, and the last batch have been really dark. So I've got some experimenting to do. Stay tuned.
I promise more outfit posts to come! I've been a little lazy lately, and frankly haven't been wearing anything of interest. Deep-v tees, skinny jeans and gladiators everyday! I'm definitely inspired by the pre-fall Alexander Wang collection, and am really liking the black socks with black shoes look. I can't wait for the temp to drop 20 degrees.
So I know I must be way behind the times. But maybe a handful of you readers are unaware of this factoid I learned today. And that is that on the bottom of every bag from Forever 21, the owners printed "John 3:16." It is probably the most popularly referenced passage from the Bible that reads, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
I never realized I was getting a bit of Jesus along with my $5 chains and $12 dresses. Hmmmmmmm. By the way, how did they get to be so cheap?!?!!?
Well, I did a little research and came to the conclusion that aside from the Bible passage quotation on the bags, Forever 21 really isn't doing much in the way of ethics. Their factories in LA are staffed with severely underpaid employees (below minimum wage) who come to work, punching in at 7:30, only to face cockroaches. poor ventilation, long hours, few breaks and screaming supervisors.
Here's a sneak peak at the Comme des Garcons line for fall at H&M. Unfortunately there are no bright reds and pinks we saw in their current collection. And most of these things are just frankly not my style. My favorite things of the bunch are the ruffly frock at the bottom, and the most of all the navy trench. Hint* hint* to any of my Michigan relatives who live near H&Ms who are thinking, hey it's your half-birthday coming up, isn't it?!
I apologize for a lack of posts lately. I had my cousin in town since last Wednesday. Which meant that yesterday was a catch up day for work. Here I am at Half Price Books, mere moments before having to reach in the toilet to retrieve my most beloved bracelet in the public bathroom. Memories! And say hello to my new concepting glasses. I think they worked. I'll let you know tomorrow when we hear back from the client.

Chains exhibit A: French Vogue
XXI Chains - $5
Chains are everywhere. And tons of them. All at once. While I think it looks, forgive me for saying, a bit excessive and silly, to wear all these chains at once, I'm a huge fan of these various knotted and looped chains worn by themselves. I'm more a fan of them all being $5 at Forever 21.
I'm sitting at my desk in my staple gray cardi and jeans and it's really rainy and dreary out. I'm thinking that it is the perfect day to do a post about color. I ran across these images from the recent '08 Miu Miu campaign not long ago, and I can always count on them to do something stunning, graphic and super saturated. Now if only I had the courage to wear some color every now and then. Working on it, sorta.
Here is a bulk post of things I've worn lately. Unfortunately this is the only part of our place where I can get enough space between the mirror and myself, so you'll be seeing lots of our office/play room.

I swear I did not start this blog to gush over Mad Men every single day. But I just can't help it, every day I find something new and amazing that must be shared. So while it's old news that so many of the fall fashion line-ups (namely Michael Kors) have drawn inspiration from the series/era, it was new news for me to realize how many designers have created lines influenced by the 60s rocker chicks and hippies ("the Kate Moss-for-the-Nixon-era" - TFS)
I've just learned about Japan's Vidal Sassoon campaign, and it is rad! The campaign is the collaborative effort of Patricia Field (stylist behind Sex & the City), hairdresser Orlando Pita, and pop star Namie Amuro (who is so adorable). The campaign, Fashion. Music. VS., is structured around recreating styles of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Art directionally speaking, well, the spots are just really hot.
It all started with the glasses. Damn you Dustin, see what you've started? I think I need to take this blog link off of my resume now. Anyway, so I was locked up in a conference room concepting, and took a quick break to try on these frames. Then I started taking photos of myself with my mac cam. That's when Dana decided to video me doing that. And that's when you get, voila!, the first of perhaps many to come VLOGS!

I've been bad about outfit posts, sorry! I have quite a few stashed away, so I'll probably just do a bulk outfit posting sometime this week. Today's is nothing special, but I love it because it is so comfy and perfect for summer. I just lounged around today, reading, watching tv, and eating sushi at my favorite place with one of my favorite friends. I also saw a fantastic, but depressing, documentary, American Teen, which reminded me that I never want to return to high school, ever, not even for one day.
I don't know if you can hear me, but please please please open up an H&M, like now, before the fall Comme des Garcons line comes out. Are the rumors true that there is one going up across from Northpark Mall? Please make it happen! Amen.
I saw these shoes in a Vogue spread just yesterday and adore them. They're kind of funky oxfords, a classic with a mean twist. They're also $710, so maybe Nine West or Steve Madden will make some knock-offs. A girl can dream.
