So I hate to get political with this blog, gotta keep things light and airy! But I saw this ad done by AKQA and just have to show it to anyone I can in a final attempt in these last days to spread the word to vote Obama.

Express tuxedo jacket, American Apparel deep-v tee, UO belt, Club Monaco jeans, Steve Madden oxfords, Ann Taylor Loft clutch
Last night Kim and I went to an event hosted by this fabulous blogger at this swanky Dallas venue called The Apartment. Best of all was the free martinis and delicious finger foods. And of course all sponsored by Chambourd. So yummy. We were so inspired by the party and the drunken tutorial that we decided to host a party for the premiere of Twilight!

I definitely wish I were a gutsier dresser. For some reason that is spelled wrong, or looks French. Hmmm, is that even a word? Anyway, I'll be in Rio in a few weeks and I've pulled some fantasy looks together from Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks for S/S '09. I thought maybe looking at these shows would inspire my packing, but wait, I don't own anything this cool. Ho hum.

Club Monaco blazer, Barney's CO-OP top, age old classic black mini from Rome, homemade socks cut from black tights, Steve Madden oxfords, NARS lipstick in Dolce Vita
'Tis the weekend of high school fall plays. Tonight I went to Booker T Washington High School (the Arts Magnet school downtown) and saw their performance of Scapino. These kids are amazing, and their costumes were fantastic! Every single character was clad in bright colors and mixed prints and topped off with a pair of all-stars. I can't wait for the mime shows in February!

I saved this clipping from WWWD from last spring and love the jewel-toned palette. That headband is from XXI and I got it ages ago thinking I could make it into a bracelet, but it hasn't worked yet.
Too Faced lipstick in Drop Dead Red (a perfect red/blue silky smooth shade)
We celebrated with a couple of steaks and tickets to Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. I definitely recommend, and if anyone has the soundtrack I want a copy! Mmmmmm meat.

Maybe I should have gone to law school after all. Let me tell you a story about how I got a $148 for $60. As you'll recall a few posts ago I've been courting this black tuxedo jacket from Express. It is beautiful. It's so well-tailored, has lots of buttons on the cuffs, and is constructed from wonderfully rich fabric. So, the plan was to go to the store to try it on and then simply wait for it to go on sale, which probably wouldn't be until Christmas. Well, when I went to the store and tried it on, I noticed a sign a few racks away from this particular jacket that said 40% off jackets. I was like, oh okay, well awesome! So I took the jacket up to the register and didn't say anything while he rang it up. Turns out it wasn't on sale. So I took the sales guy over to the general area and showed him the sign. And I picked up a jacket right below the sign that was the same price and was on sale for 40% off. I was like dude, this is a black jacket for the same price that is on sale, eh eh? He's like, oh okay I'll do it. So he rang up the other jacket and then I whipped out my $25 coupon that I got in the mail and cha-ching! Father would be proud.
I'll admit I hadn't stepped foot into an Express since the 9th grade, but they've got some real gems now. And they hand out $25 coupons like candy. Here's my latest crush.

After much much much deliberation, I've finally picked a new pair of black tennis shoes. And I looooooove them! They go with absolutely everything, and have excellent arch support! Who would've guessed?!
