Like I've mentioned, since being unemployed I've been consumed by TCM's 31 days of Oscar. Yesterday I watched Darling with Julie Christie (and Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn – another post in itself!). Until now, the only movie I'd seen her in was Away from Her and she is gorgeous. So I was really excited to settle in and see her in a film during her 'heyday' although I think it's quite possible she's even more beautiful now.

I saw this at the IMAX last night and it is absolutely INCREDIBLE. It's stop motion, not CG, and I had to keep reminding myself every moment. And ever teeny tiny little thing down to the blade of grass is made by hand. Even the clothes are created by a miniature knitter, and took up to six months to create even just a single piece. It just blows my mind!
And one other thing to note. The story is about a family that moves from Pontiac, Michigan (woot woot!) to Oregon. And I have to say that Dakota Fanning totally nailed the Michigan accent. I kept nudging Leo and asking him if I still sounded like that. Please let it not be so!

First off, Happy 50th Birthday Barbie! How have your feet stayed so perfectly arched? And your breasts so perfectly perky?
So the folks behind Hello Kitty have joined forces with Mac to come up with a line of cosmetics due out for Valentine's. And Mac has enlisted a bunch of designers (DVF, Kimora Lee Simmons, Alexander Wang, Tory Burch, Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Donna Karen) to create a couture collection based on Hello Kitty.
This calls for some shampy! Who else wants to kill Olivia on The City? I do I do!

I'm a wee bit obsessed with trench coats. The one that takes the cake is none other than the Burberry trench. I was at Northpark yesterday for a volunteer fair and somehow wandered right on into Burberry, oopsie! Then I stumbled right into a size 2, oops again. It is perfection and the quality and construction puts my Banana trench to shame! You feel like a million bucks in one. Thanks to the recession just about everything in the universe is on sale. But I won't be getting one of these babies for a looooooong time.
Maybe it's all the Catholic school I've been through, but I always feel like I'm in some sort of uniform regiment. Right now it's a blazer, tee, jeans, and chucks. But I could see myself in one of these babies, jeans, a hanes white tee, and ballet flats FOREVER. It's so simple and classic and perfect.

One of my dream jobs has always been to do the opening sequences to tv shows and movies. I'm a big fan of United States of Tara, and especially the opening theme. Also featured in this is the Polyphonic Spree! Anyone know who did this? I was thinking it was Digital Kitchen but it's not on their site, or else they just haven't updated it yet.
